What
about subjects not listed on your appointment tutoring
page?
Please
come to the Tutoring Center and fill out a Tutoring
Request Form. Once you fill out the Tutoring Request
Form, the process of finding a qualified tutor will
begin.
Can you find a
tutor for any subject?
Most of the
time, we can request a tutor from the faculty. However,
there is no guarantee. The process usually takes 3-4
weeks because of the application and district approval
procedures. Please be patient, and we will call you
to update you and to inform you when we have found you
a tutor.
No tutor
available: We will also let you know if the faculty
cannot locate a tutor for you. In this case, it is best
to see your instructor in his/her office hours or form
a study group.

How long will
the process take?
On
the average, 3 to 4 weeks. We request a tutor from your
instructor and then follow-up every three days. Once
the instructor locates a tutor we contact you.
What are the credentials
of your tutors?
•
Our 65+ tutors are faculty recommended and above-average
students
• Many are finalists for Men & Women of Distinction
• Three have been honored as Man or Woman of the
Year
• Credentials may also include: master’s/bachelor’s
degrees, credentialed teachers, retired teachers, professionals,
and/or adjunct faculty.
• Tutors are evaluated each semester by students
and earn a 95% satisfaction rating!

How
much do your tutors charge for private tutoring?
Tutors
charge varying amounts, from $10 up to $35 or more per
hour. It all depends on their experience in the subject
and their credentials. The best thing to do is to ask
what their rate is, and, if they don't have a set rate,
offer a reasonable amount. Take into consideration the
transportation time and costs if they are coming to
your residence. Also consider the costs of their research
time if you are asking them to provide supplemental
materials.
How
many appointments per week can your private tutors book?
That
all depends on how much help you think you need and
how available our tutors are. Some students may only need
help once a week to maintain their current level of
performance. Others who are far behind in grade level
or have disabilities may need two to three times per
week. A child's teacher can recommend the frequency
of sessions, and you can use that as a guide.
